Shelly was born and raised in Whatcom County. She started camping and fishing when she was just a little girl; every year her family would take a trip to Sekiu, WA and her father and grandfather took her saltwater fishing. Even today, she remembers the first halibut she ever caught: it weight 14lbs and it seemed like a monster to an 8 or 9 year old Shelly. Shelly began big game hunting around age 15, going for bear, deer, elk, and even cougar. She primarily hunts modern rifle, but goes muzzleloader as well. Her true joys in life are her family, including 11 grandchildren, and being outdoors—whether it is fishing, camping or hunting, it is all great!
